Holiday Arts Festival - 2008
The Valley Unitarian Universalist Church will be holding its fifth annual Holiday Arts Festival from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 13th. The festival is an alternative to shopping at the mall by providing a wide range of beautiful artwork and handmade items suitable for holiday gift giving.
This year the festival will have an environmental theme that emphasizes ways to have a "green" holiday season. This includes buying locally, making re-usable gift bags or using recycled wrapping paper, live Christmas trees, making decorations from recyclables or biodegradables, and much more. We are recruiting local artists who use environmentally friendly methods and materials in their work. For example, we have a local artist who makes greeting cards using recycled paper produced in a paper mill that is powered by wind-generated electricity!
The event will include the sale of homemade cookies by the dozen, and the VUU cafe will provide lunch at a reasonable costs. Proceeds from the lunch will be donated to breast cancer research. A portion of all profits from the sale will support our focus charity, the Chandler Christian Community Center.
Applications will be accepted from artists through October 17th and all artists will be notified whether or not their applications have been accepted by October 24th.
