The Worship Associate program allows VUU lay persons to be involved in creating and coordinating worship services. This heightens the feeling of participation by the congregation in Sunday Worship. It creates ownership of the worship process and makes visible and real the conversation between pulpit and congregation.

Lay persons involved in worship help the minister to better serve congregational needs. Worship Associates provide lay support for the minister and staff in planning the worship schedule, preparing the worship setting, researching sermon preparation and serving as lay leaders during worship services.

Each spring, individuals may apply to serve as Worship Associates for the coming church year. Selections are made by our minister. During the year the group meets for a fall training session and then monthly to coordinate the worship experiences for the year with the minister and staff. In the spring there is a one-day spiritual retreat.
