"Holiday Pageant." |
The 2013 Holiday Pageant is a time to come together and share in the wonder of the season, a time to draw strength from one another. Let us discover the spiritual truths that are relevant today. We simply need to have ears to hear and hearts to receive. Join us for the multi-generational service Would You Like to Hold the Baby - the retelling of the Nativity Story together with traditional and original holiday songs. The Children's Choir and the Holiday Orchestra will provide music.
"The Longest Night." |
The holiday season is often hectic, and can be an especially difficult time for many people. Memories from the past come into the forefront when we least expect it. If you, or someone you love, is struggling with grief, the loss of a loved one, divorce, illness, depression, job loss, or other issues; or are just overwhelmed by the chaos of the season, please plan to attend this quiet, meaningful service. It is a safe calming space where those mixed emotions can be acknowledged; and peace, comfort, and hope brought into the lives of those in need. Please join us at 7:00 pm in the Sanctuary. All are welcome.
"Don't Throw Out Jesus (Or The Bible) With the Bathwater." By Rev. Andy Burnette |
VUU Member Kevin Peffley purchased a sermon topic at last year's auction and requested this sermon. It seems especially appropriate as Christmas approaches. The Adult Choir will sing, featuring Tamara Deems as soloist.

"No Time Not To Love." By Rev. Amy Beltaine |
There are those who would set fire to the world. There is only time to work slowly. There is no time not to love. It is tempting to shake our fists and decry the “evil” corporations. But how might we respond to sin with both compassion and strength? What might doing the work with love, with hospitality, look like in our daily lives? Universalist, Clarence Skinner explored these ideas after World War II, as did Susan B Anthony during her fight for women’s and African American’s right to vote. We are called to find our own way during these years of transformation.
