I am a born-again UU – that is, I was born a Unitarian-Universalist, and have come to appreciate, own, and claim it over the years. I have been a member of UU churches in five states, served on the board in two and served as President of the Unitarian Universalist church in Roswell, Georgia before moving to Arizona; for the last thirteen years I have been a proud member of Valley UU Congregation, serving on Stewardship, Green Sanctuary, Finance, Budget, Special Funds, and the Audit Committee. I have taught RE and participated in auctions and cafes, helped to create VUU’s first photographic membership directory, and to begin the chalice circles covenant groups. I raised two young adults from middle school at VUU and am proud to say their UU roots serve them well as a young teacher, a new attorney, and as caring adults.
I am retired from a 40-year career in accounting and software administration within the real estate industry. I am now an Enrolled Agent, working for TurboTax as a Tax Expert, and have my own tax practice. I am married to Marc, who attends VUU on occasion and claims Unitarian Universalism as the religion he would join were he ever inclined to join a religion. While we live in Tempe, we spend much of our time in Pine, Arizona in our tiny home with our two dogs. I served for eight years on the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board, and am now pleased to spend most of my “free” time working on behalf of the mission of the Valley Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
