Desert Notes April 6, 2023
I am currently talking with UU youth about the coming of age work on creating a personal Credo. They are all assigned to set up a meeting with me to do this. It’s fun to get to know them and also see the world through their lens. I am also looking forward to traveling with them to Boston to learn more about Unitarian Universalist history.
I have also been working with a couple of immigrant families seeking support and community, one of whom I met through Granite Peak UU. We are organizing a task force to learn with and from immigrants and to support their journeys while developing our own capacity to advocate for better immigration policies and programs and to be better neighbors and companeros (companions). If you want to join this team, please contact Mark Beehler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are celebrating one year since VUU invited me to be your candidate for settled ministry and my family made their first trip with me to Arizona. I have learned that transitions of this level usually take about three years for all parties to make all the necessary adjustments. So while we are still getting to know each other and to learn from each other, I am glad to be living into a shared future with VUU. May we continue to be curious, open, and flexible as we learn, grow, and adapt together!
