UU the Vote

Love is our Doctrine. Service is our prayer. Justice is our calling.

UU the VOTE is a non-partisan effort that addresses democracy, voting rights, & electoral justice through a strong and focused congregational effort to Get-Out-the-Vote in AZ and elsewhere.  Voting is the power we have to elect the right legislators who represent our UU values.  Past efforts have included making phone calls, writing letters and postcards, and texting registered voters encouraging them to get to the polls on election day.  Committee members have also volunteered as poll workers. Candidates are NOT ENDORSED—this is an entirely non-partisan effort– but propositions and referendums may be.

In 2022, in coordination with the UUA national effort, VUU was acknowledged as a Good Trouble Congregation, one of only 24 UU congregations awarded this honor throughout the country. Named for John Lewis’ famous quote to “Get in good trouble, necessary trouble,” the award acknowledged the superior effort that was made by VUU congregants to participate in actions directly affecting Get-Out-the-Vote activity. Over 120 congregants signed up to assist, over 4,000 letters and postcards were written, and nearly 400 signatures were collected for petitions among other activities.
