Desert Notes April 25, 2024

Love is our Doctrine. Service is our prayer. Justice is our calling.

Desert Notes April 25, 2024

Last weekend I was excited to join many VUU families and members (over 50 of us!) at CampWay in Prescott where we spent a couple of nights and a day enjoying the trees, the breeze, the squirrels and many activities including several cool art projects, zip lines, team building, an un-talent show, and a giant swing.  We shared meals, walks, conversations, fireside s’mores and telescope views of the moon.  We made new friends, rekindled old friendships, and remembered the magic of being at camp together. I am so glad I could be with these fine folks!

I also attended the installation of Rev. Matthew Funke Crary, minister at Mountain Vista UU in Tucson.  I was lucky to have a driving partner in Rev. Christine Dance, minister at UU Congregation of Phoenix.  It was a weekend packed with rich relationships and celebration, and I am so grateful for the people and places that share our values and help us connect.

As we move toward the end of this program year, I am also grateful for the 30+ people who have been participating in the Spirituality of Conflict Program with Rev. Sam Wilson and who have been working in the background to learn, grow, and lead as we address change, conflict and compromise in our congregation.  We are discovering more and more about who we are, where our challenges are, and what we need in order to thrive as a community.

May we find ourselves “open and willing,” as Holly Near’s song suggests, to all that is calling us into deeper relationship and healing opportunities.
